Àbadakone (pronounced AH-bah-dah-kwoh-nay) features over seventy artists from some forty Indigenous Nations – half from territories intersecting with Canadian borders, and half coming to us from places including Guatemala, Aotearoa (New Zealand), India, Nigeria, Taiwan, Norway, and South Africa. As an exhibition of international contemporary art, Àbadakone foregrounds how your diverse art practices cross and are crossed by borders, negotiating (often multiple and overlapping) nationalities, ethnicities, and tribal identities, and resulting in some of the best contemporary art on the planet.
