SILAUP PUTUNGA at the AGO

In early June, Laaakkuluk Williamson Bathory and Jamie Griffiths installed their film installation project at the Art Gallery of Ontario as part of the AGO Exhibit TUNNIRUSIANGIT; Kenojuak Ashevak and Tim Pitsiulak.

The 25 minute film is called Silaup Putunga and was filmed in Nunavut. Music is by Celina Kalluk and Laakkuluk Williamson Bathory, reworked into an abstract experience of sound and place that loops out of sync with the film so that the experience for the viewer is ever-changing so that new juxtapositions provoke the viewer.

Silaup Putunga is video-projected from two sides onto semi-translucent projection screen, in a custom frame, designed to match the print frames in the exhibition.
